What services does Structura provide beyond what we are already doing?
  1. If you are currently not mass producing  affordable homes at the rate of 100 to 500 or more a year, then Structura Technologies can provide solutions to help you do this. As an integral arm of the Western Forms Group (WF Group) and through the collaboration of associates under the umbrella of WF Group, Structura Technologies is capable of integrating and managing a long list of services and building technologies to help your company set up industrialized construction processes to mass produce homes at scale that can exceed 10,000 housing units a year.
  2. Structura directs a multitude of services that include project consulting and management responsibilities for a wide variety of types of housing projects ranging from single-family to mid-rise – multi-family affordable housing units.
  3. Structura designers and engineers work closely with WF Group companies to resolve typically unsolvable problems to produce these housing units at scale.
What are some of Structura Technologies capabilities?
  1. Architectural & structural design capabilities to optimize “affordable housing” projects.
  2. Works directly with Western Forms, within the WF Group, who are the world’s leading aluminum concrete forming system manufacturers, working in 50+ countries. These advanced building systems deliver concrete housing unit shells in record time with unskilled labor.
  3. Structura provides on-site training and supervision of the building systems, during the concrete shell building process.
  4. The company provides complete estimating, project budgeting, and construction management with direction of required performance metrics to keep the concrete shell construction processes on time and within budget guidelines.
  5. Exchanges technological construction intel with Structura Technologies International who work with hundreds of contractors and contacts in 50+ countries involved in the production of over 500,000 housing units annually.
Why would anyone want a concrete home over a wood home?
  1. The life cycle of wood homes (also referred to as stick-built) have a limited life before maintenance is required. Wood rot alone is a major problem, not to mention bug infestations with wood.
  2. Stick-built homes are not fireproof like concrete homes.
  3. Stick-built homes cannot withstand 100 to 200 mph winds in tornado and hurricane seasons like concrete homes can.
  4. Overall, families are safer in concrete homes.
  5. Stick-built homes do not have the advantage of receiving reduced insurance rates due to the resiliency of concrete homes.
  6. Stick-built homes are not as inherently energy efficient when compared to insulated concrete homes.
  7. Concrete homes are quieter than traditional wood products due to the density of the concrete walls.
  8. Concrete is environmentally friendly and provides a healthier air quality than conventional construction materials.
What do concrete homes look like?

Concrete homes look the same as most stick-built homes. Many of the same materials can be applied to the exterior walls as stick-built homes. This includes any type of siding or roofing material on the market, natural stone, brick, and more commonly, stucco.  Anyone driving by cannot tell the difference between neighboring stick-built homes. Many homebuyers choose concrete because they like the contemporary appearance formed concrete. For these folks, exteriors are often completely left unfinished and other wood or metal products are often included as special architectural features.

Are concrete walls included throughout the inside? How are concrete homes built?

These dwellings are built using the same room sizes and traffic patterns that architects design for any stick-built home. Structura’s Design and Engineering departments can design new architectural plans or convert any provided plans so concrete building systems can be implemented to form concrete shells. These are very similar to the same types of systems concrete foundation contractors have been using all across America for over 65 years. Builders and homebuyers may choose concrete interior walls or just the exterior walls and build interior walls with metal or wood studs.

How is electrical and plumbing put in?

Electrical and plumbing is installed during the forming process directly into the walls.  Builders and homebuyers may also wish to install additional electrical and plumbing outside of walls for any number of personal reasons but it is absolutely not necessary.

Are concrete homes more or less expensive than stick-built homes?

Currently, due to the drastic increase in wood prices (in many cases, over double from a year ago) building concrete homes have now become very competitively priced.

Since concrete homes are less expensive to heat and cool, the cost of maintenance is dramatically reduced, and the fact that insurance rates are lower, the long term cost of a concrete home is quite a bit less to operate.

Can building concrete homes be more profitable for builders vs. stick-built homes?

Builders realize a cost savings during the construction process due to the speed of construction of concrete homes vs wood.  I.E. Construction loan carrying costs are reduced due to speed of construction.

Concrete homes require less labor, there-by reducing cost of man-hours to build each home.

Due to the lack of skilled labor required to build stick-built homes, the wait time for builders is reducing the numbers of homes that can be built and sold annually.  Concrete shells can be built faster helping to increase productivity, there-by increasing profits for builders who can produce more homes.

How long does it take to build a concrete shell for concrete homes?

Concrete shells can be built daily just like foundations in the USA.

Outside the US, contractors in Mexico have been building 700 to 900 sq. ft. affordable cast-in-place homes for 30+ years.  They pour concrete shells for these homes at the rate of one unit a day and they finish the homes in less than 30 days
